The elusive bird

Nov. 14 – Cassowary

We had a guided walk through the rain forest, hoping to see Cassowaries. Unfortunately, they decided not to make an appearance, so we had to make do with the man-made statue we saw on the way in. Cassowaries are notoriously stupid and will walk right out onto the road in front of vehicles. There are a lot of signs warning about being careful of Cassowaries on the road. One has been “grafittied” to make it even clearer.

In case you can't read the words at the top of the sign, it says, “Chill out, not flat out.” The top sign has been changed from a speed bump warning by adding bird head and feet. Very clever!
