Doing different things

Nov. 7 – The group split up and did different things today.

Bill and Phyllis took a wine tour. The saw a lot of beautiful scenery and visited two wineries to taste the wines offered at each. They were disappointed not to be given a tour of at least one winery.

Richard, Judy and I along with June, Mary Lee and Charlie went on a day-long side trip to Kangaroo Island. It was rather pricey, but we had decided in the middle of summer that we wanted to do it and paid the extra cost for the trip. We had to be up, have eaten breakfast and ready to leave by 6:10 a.m. A real stretch for those of us who are night owls. Our tour guide, Marilyn, asked June and I (the only single people in the Kangaroo Island group) if one of us would be “tour leader” for a day as she was staying with the majority of the group. June didn't want to do it, so I got to be tour leader. Not that I did anything to lead other than receive Marilyn's advice about where to sit in the ferry to assure that we'd get the best seats in the tour bus. At the end of the day I was able to report to Marilyn that the group behaved very well, and Mary Lee reported to her that I was a very good tour guide. We had a good chuckle over the reports.
