Nov. 9 – Yipirniya School
We visited two types of schools today. The first is Yipirniya School which is for aboriginal children. They not only learn English, but one of 4 local aboriginal languages and about their own culture. The school is free to all the children, but it is still difficult to get them to attend. Many parents don't consider it necessary, so some children only attend one or two days a week. Nan is pictured with one of the students. We were matched up 2 visitors per child and the child read books to us.
