Opal shopping
Nov. 5 – late a.m.
We stopped at one of the most reputable opal dealers in the country to see a film about how opals are mined (by individuals – it is so labor-intensive that companies can't afford to be involved) and the largest opal in the world (see the picture). Of course there was also opal shopping where we all spent WAY too much money. I did stay away from the high end stuff – there was one gorgeous opal broach with diamonds that ran for $32,000. I left it in the store...
